St. Mary's College of Maryland, St. Mary's City, Maryland USA. The college is located about 90 miles south of both Washington, DC  and Baltimore MD.

Do I need to bring a drum set?

Each drummer must bring their own kit.  The gear list is adjusted year by year.  The drums required for 2027 will be outlined in Handbook sent after we receive your deposit.We have a limited number of rental kits available for an additional $125.  While the entry-level gear and cymbals are sufficient for camp use, they are not professional grade.  You have the option bring selected gear (pedal, snare, cymbals, etc)  If you need a rental kit make sure to select: "Add Rental Kit" in the payment option area on the Registration Form.NOTE:  you are responsible for ensuring you have all of your personal gear & belongings before you leave the camp.  SoMar Drummers, Inc. is not responsible for gear left behind and will not ship items left behind back after the camp.

Do I need to be able to read music?

You don't need to be able to read music.   Knowing basic drum notation is helpful, but not necessary.

Are there Chaperone opportunities?

We have limited number of opportunities for parent chaperones.  Chaperones must have a child registered for the camp.Chaperones bunk overnight with the students in a guardianship role. Chaperone must obtain a police background check.Email somardrummers@gmail.com if you are interested.
