When assembling the 2021 Mid Atlantic Drum Camp Artist lineup, Sheila reached out to someone she was following on social media during COVID shutdown and they've been friends ever since.
Alex began working with SoMar Drummers, Inc as Artist in Residence in the 2021 Mid Atlantic Drum Camp. His pedal techniques and ingenuity are still emerging as Alex pushes boundaries on the drum set, doing things previously thought to be impossible.
Accolades from colleagues include Virgil Donati, 'Thomas Lang, and called 'the most technically advanced drummer on the planet' by Pete Drummond.
Alex Cohen has set a new benchmark for coordination and foot technique. A winner of Drumeo's 'Louie Bellson Award' for innovation in double bass playing,
His books set a new standard for polyrhythmic study and coordination exercises and are lauded by members of the drum industry. He completed his 3rd book while convalescing from a brain tumor.
He's recorded educational videos with DRUMEO, serves on faculty at the Drummers' Collective in NYC and maintains a robust private teaching and performance schedule.
