Founder & Director of Percussion Education
Sheila Klotz
Driven to inspire drummers by tapping into a manifold performance career in US military bands, Sheila is "propelling the art of percussion" into young musicians from around the world.
Her hunger for drumming at a young age led to full percussion study at WVU, subsequently earning a spot as a Percussionist in The United States Air Force Band, Washington, DC.
Half way through her military career, Sheila traded her drum sticks for the conductors baton as Commander, Conductor and Musical Director with the 257th Army Band. A published arranger, she orchestrated countless pieces for the unit's ensembles and is credited for reviving the "military band in the park" concert model - an innovative programming template in use by US military bands today.
Her drum-throne duties include bands, performances and recordings in Pop, Rock, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Jazz, R&B, Classical and Country Western. She honed her gospel chops over a 14-year span as the drummer for Lighthouse Baptist Church Women's Gospel Choir.
In 2020 she entered and won the prestigious International Drum Set Competition "Hit Like A Girl".
Her instructional expertise includes Percussion Instructor at the College of Southern Maryland and Professor of Percussion at St. Mary's College of Maryland. She taught countless, award winning Drumlines and formed an inimitable pop / jazz-fusion percussion ensemble comprised of high school students that toured the region.
Alongside her current duties as Percussion Instructor at King's Christian Academy, she maintains a private lesson percussion studio.
Sheila is a freelance clinician, recording artist and percussionist in the Mid-Atlantic region and serves as an Educator Clinician with WFLIII Drums and credits TRX Cymbals. for her custom cymbal sound.
